Bed Head Unit Length and Layout: From Bed Spacing to an Approval Drawing
A bed head unit is ordered by length, and that length comes from the bed layout in each room. A room list and an approved outline drawing let procurement check the requested length against bed positions and the module arrangement. This article follows that path for the Custom Bed Head Unit – 230, from site reference dimensions to a drawing version both sides accept.
Every room in the list should carry its own reference dimensions: wall-to-wall clear length, the position of each bed centreline, and the distance from the wall to any fixed obstruction. These are site measurements taken by the project team. Kersai does not set installation heights or safety clearances; those belong to the qualified project team and the local rules they work to.
What the measurements do is fix the usable run for a bed head unit. A four-bed room with uneven bed centrelines may need a longer unit or a split arrangement. A single room with a short wall may need a compact module set. Record the numbers per room before any model discussion, because the same unit length can serve very different room counts.
The practical bridge between rooms and a drawing is a schedule that lists, for each room, the modules required and where each one sits along the unit. The table below is left blank for the project team to fill from its own room data.
| Room ID | Reference run (mm) | Modules required (in order) | Notes for drawing |
|---|---|---|---|
Keep the module order literal: left to right as seen facing the wall. This removes ambiguity when the drawing is checked, and it lets the supplier confirm whether the requested sequence can be built at the stated length. Ask Kersai which module combinations are available for the 230 series and which dimensions are needed to review the requested length.
Length alone does not make an approvable drawing. The outline should show where the unit meets the building: the wall fixing line, the entry point for services, and any junction between adjacent unit sections. Each of these is a site interface, and each needs a dimension or a reference on the drawing.
The project team decides the technical requirements for services and fixing. Procurement's job is to make sure the drawing shows them clearly enough for the installer to check against the room. Where a service entry position is not yet fixed, mark it as pending on the drawing so it is not silently assumed.
These questions are worth sending with the room list and module schedule:
For a given run length, which module arrangements can Kersai offer, and how are joints between sections handled?
What drawing format and scale does Kersai issue for approval, and what revision marking is used?
Which dimensions does Kersai need confirmed before a length is released for production?
How are changes to the module order recorded once a drawing version has been signed?
What does Kersai require on the drawing to show service entry positions?
Use the supplier responses to complete the approval drawing. Keep the questions and replies with the room list so the version history stays in one place.
A bed head unit drawing usually passes through several versions: a first outline from the room list, a revised outline after site dimensions are confirmed, and a signed version released for order. Each version should carry a number, a date, and a short note of what changed. Procurement can then compare the signed drawing against the room list and the module schedule before releasing the order.
When a room changes after sign-off, the change should produce a new drawing version, with the affected room identified. This keeps the link between the room list, the schedule, and the drawing intact through the life of the project.
